There are people who cannot stand seeing other people eat on the bus.

The first group of people would thus take photos of the second group of people and send the photos to Stomp.

Sharing one such photo, Stomper Selva said: "During my routine trip on bus service 66, I noticed a fellow passenger eating while onboard. This raised a question regarding the current regulations on eating and drinking on public buses.

"As I understand it, passengers are generally prohibited from eating or drinking on buses."

Stomper Rachel shared a photo of a couple on a double deck where the guy was holding a half-eaten bun.

"These two people sitting on the upper deck of bus service 856A kept drinking and eating bread. It seemed like they didn’t understand the sign and couldn’t obey bus rules at all.

Stomper Ira shared a photo of a man eating on bus service 12.

"Let's make this guy famous," said the Stomper. "Eating on the bus as if it's normal, people like this should be fined."

But is eating on the bus really prohibited? Can people who do so get a fine?

Tower Transit, which operates bus services 66 and 856A, states on its website: "We strongly discourage eating and drinking on board our buses for the comfort of other passengers. We believe that it is the social responsibility of every passenger to keep our public buses clean."

SBS Transit puts it more firmly on its website: "Do not smoke, eat, drink or litter in the bus."

However, while eating on the MRT train is punishable with a $500 fine, there is no penalty for eating on public buses.

But while you will not be fined, someone may take a picture of you and send it to Stomp.
