A man was shocked to discover what appeared to be mould growing on two slices of chocolate truffle cake he had purchased from Hanis at Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ).

Stomper Desmond told Stomp he had bought the cakes on July 24 for his children, but they noticed something was off before taking a bite.

"One would have thought that the cakes sold at established F&B stores would be carefully inspected before selling and that they would take serious views of feedback given to them, especially if it is related to the quality of their food," he said.

"However, this does not seem to be the case for Hanis at PLQ.

"Thankfully, my children were observant and checked them first," said Desmond. "There was mould growing on the sides of the cake slices."

Desmond shared that he provided feedback to Hanis immediately but was disappointed by what he felt was a slow response.

He told Stomp he received a reply soon after Stomp reached out to the outlet.

Stomp understands Hanis is in contact with the Stomper and is looking into the matter.

"Thanks for helping to reach out to Hanis," Desmond said.

"They did not state any actions that they will be taking in terms of their food, but they offered me a $40 e-voucher.

"While the e-voucher is a nice gesture, my main concern is still their process of ensuring the food is fit for consumption.

"Otherwise, this will happen again."
