Stomper delighted by surprise visit from friendly kingfisher at Marina South Pier
A collared kingfisher paid an unexpected visit to the Singapore Island Cruise & Ferry Services ticket counter at Marina South Pier on May 30 at about 12pm.
The bird landed on Stomper Delphine's counter and charmed her with its bright blue feathers.
She said: "What a privilege to be able to see, stroke, and carry a Kingfisher at the ticket counter!"
Delphine befriended the bird, which accepted her gentle pets, and even hopped onto her finger.
When asked whether the bird appeared to be injured, she told Stomp: "It didn't look injured, I think it was just learning how to fly."
The kingfisher flew off after about ten minutes, and Delphine thanked the bird.
"Thank you for visiting Singapore Island Cruise, Kingfisher!"
While the bird showed no visible signs of distress and seemed friendly, the National Parks Board advises against touching or handling wild birds for the safety of both humans and wildlife.
Members of the public are encouraged to call Acres' Wildlife Rescue Hotline (9783 7782) or NParks' Animal Response Centre (1800 476 1600) when encountering a wild animal that may need assistance.
