Stomper catches meteor streaking across Buangkok sky on early morning drive
A bright meteor was spotted blazing across the sky in the early hours of Feb 10, stunning a motorist who captured the rare sight on his dashcam.
Stomper Derrick was driving along Buangkok East Drive towards the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) at around 4.54am when he saw the meteor streaking across the sky.
"I caught a large meteor on my dash cam while driving," Derrick told Stomp.
The sight only lasted a few seconds but it left a lasting impression.
Dashcam footage shared by Derrick shows the meteor making its trajectory across the sky before vanishing from view.
Meteors, also known as shooting stars, occur when space debris enters earth's atmosphere at high speed, burning up due to friction.
While such events are not uncommon, spotting one in Singapore's light-polluted skies is considered rare.
