A driver was accused of hogging a pump at a petrol station in Marsiling, allegedly holding up others who were waiting.

Stomper R, a motorcyclist, said the incident occurred at SPC Marsiling at 250 Admiralty Road on March 11 at about 6.25pm.

According to the Stomper, the driver of a red Mercedes-Benz had already finished pumping fuel but left her car parked at the pump while she went inside the station.

“Some people have zero consideration for others,” said R. “Instead of moving the car after pumping, she went inside the station to do her shopping while leaving the car parked at the pump.”

R said that when the driver returned and saw the Stomper waiting on her motorcycle, she allegedly took her time getting into the car and remained there using her phone.

In a video shared by the Stomper, the motorcyclist is seen waiting for the Mercedes to vacate the pump. An attendant later gestures at the driver to move.

“I even asked the pump attendant to help tell the driver to move, but instead of doing anything, the attendant just signalled that the driver was ‘on the phone’,” said R. “Being on your phone doesn’t give you the right to hold up the whole queue. If you’re done pumping, move your car.”

She felt that the pump attendant should have stepped in to manage the situation and ensured the pump area was kept clear.

“Attendants should be helping to prevent unnecessary congestion caused by inconsiderate drivers,” she said.

According to R, the Mercedes was at the pump for an extended period without refuelling, blocking others in the queue.

“Although the video does not show the driver walking back to the car, it clearly shows how long the vehicle remained at the pump without pumping fuel, blocking others who were waiting in the queue, before eventually moving off,” she said.

“There was also another car at the station that had already finished pumping and paying, but remained parked at the pump while clearing items from their car boot despite the queue forming behind them.

“It was frustrating to see such inconsiderate behaviour at a busy petrol station, especially when other drivers were waiting patiently.”

R said she believes motorists should be mindful of others and move their vehicles promptly after refuelling instead of holding up the queue.

“The pump isn’t your personal parking lot. Basic courtesy isn’t that hard.”
