Stomper applies for job at BreadTalk -- by sending them a 'cake' made from scratch
Forget blasting your resume everywhere or spamming Easy Apply on LinkedIn.
Stomper justcreatingmything's job application for a creative role at BreadTalk takes the cake - literally.
She disguised her resume as a 'sponge cake' and sent it to the bakery chain's headquarters at Tai Seng Street.
Justcreatingmything documented the painstaking process in a TikTok video, which she shared with Stomp.
She said: "It took me about a week, from the thought process to conception to carrying out the details.
"I sourced a thick car sponge from a hardware store and cut it to resemble a cake, then used paint to create the 'cream'. I also custom-made a transparent box from transparency sheets, designed the resume as a receipt, and tucked it inside."
The Stomper paid for materials including the sponge, the protective inner box and a large parcel for shipping, as well as fees for registered mail.
"I mailed the cake via SingPost's Speedpost Standard parcel service," she added. "The final tracking status confirms it was successfully delivered to BreadTalk IHQ."
A QR code accompanying the cake was scanned days after delivery, but the Stomper has yet to hear from BreadTalk.
Netizens have reacted positively to the Stomper's video, with many tagging BreadTalk and asking for an update on whether she got the job.
One TikTok user commented: "You're too creative to be doing a desk job, please consider exploring marketing!"
Asked what sparked her idea, Justcreatingmything told Stomp: "I didn't want to just send a digital resume. I was curious if I could approach applications in a more unconventional and creative way.
"I was inspired by someone who mailed a half-printed resume, which made me think I could try something unconventional with my creativity and turn mine into a sponge cake resume."
The Stomper said her video was not intended to "pressure BreadTalk for a response or cause any harm," adding: "The purpose of this project is purely to share the process and show how creativity can be applied to job search approaches. My goal is to share imaginative, out-of-the-box ways of thinking about resume submissions."
Perhaps job-seekers can take a leaf out of the Stomper's book. Or cake, in this case.
