Stomp has lunch at newly renovated Toa Payoh coffee shop -- and the buzz is real

The weekday afternoon buzz was unmistakable when the Stomp Team visited Kimly Coffeeshop at Block 206 Toa Payoh North.

The coffee shop reopened on March 20 following renovations, with both stall owners and patrons welcoming the change.

Stomp recently dropped by the coffee shop for lunch since it is located just across the road from our office at SPH Media.

Here are the dishes we tried.

1. Ayam Penyet from Riyana Indian Muslim Food ($7.50)

Farah Daley's review: "The stall's prices are a bit on the higher side but I still enjoyed my nasi ayam penyet. At least it came with rice, soup, tasty sambal, tempeh, tauhu and a tiny tomato."

2. Mutton Chop from Riyana Indian Muslim Food ($7)

Ong Su Mann's review: "If I had checked the price before I ordered, I would not have ordered it."

3. Spinach Soup from Liu San Jie Mian Fen Guo ($3.50)

Cherlynn Ng's review: "This was a tasty and well-balanced meal with spinach, egg, minced meatballs and mushrooms. For its price, I think it's excellent value!"

The team also ordered half a chicken ($18) from Poh Kee Chicken Rice, a beloved and long-time staple of the coffee shop.

Stall owner Michael Poh previously told Stomp: "Everything is new, the exhaust system, ventilation, the entire steel structure and all the stalls are new except me.'

During our latest visit, Mr Poh shared that he's been working longer hours than before, as business has never been more bustling.

Judging by the smile on his face, he doesn't seem to mind.
