Sprinkler mishap forces Orchardgateway restaurant to halt full house dinner service

A restaurant at Orchardgateway was forced to shut down dinner service on June 18 after sprinklers from upstairs drenched the dining area.
Supply & Demand had to cancel a full house due to major water seepage at 3.10pm.
Renovation work on a third-floor unit accidentally activated its sprinklers, which leaked down into the second-floor restaurant, leaving it no choice but to turn down more than 100 people for dinner.
A video taken inside the venue shows water dripping heavily from the ceiling, as if it was raining both indoors and outdoors.
A Facebook post by the restaurant said: "Tonight was one of the hardest nights we have faced.
"Due to construction mishaps on the mall's end, a sprinkler system was damaged, causing water to leak uncontrollably across our dining area.
"Despite a full house and a team ready to serve, we had no choice but to shut down operations mid-service, for safety and to protect our guests."
"We are disappointed," the restaurant management expressed.
"As tenants doing our part and paying rent, we are hoping for more accountability and support."
The restaurant also apologised to its guests: "To all our customers who had bookings, walk-ins or celebrations planned tonight - we are truly sorry for the disruption and inconvenience. Your support means everything to us, and we'll be reaching out to each of you personally."
Nevertheless, Supply & Demand was determined to move on: "Running a restaurant is never easy - especially in today's climate - but we carry on because of the community behind us."
"Nights like these break us a little. But we'll be back and make it up to you in the coming days!"
A spokesperson for the restaurant told Stomp: "With rising F&B costs and in this economic climate, such a scenario like this may look like 'the restaurant is closed for an evening' to a consumer."
"However, it is actually a lot more to us as an establishment."
