One man believes that Singaporeans and permanent residents (PRs) with full-time jobs should not be allowed to take on food delivery work in their spare time.

Stomper Hello wrote in to Stomp, sharing his strong views on the matter.

He said: "Full-time employees who are Singaporeans or PRs should be prohibited from working as food delivery riders during lunch, tea time, or after work. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) should take action against those who do so.

"Companies like Grab, Foodpanda and Deliveroo should reject applications from people with full-time jobs. These platform jobs should only be for those who don't have other employment."

When asked to explain why he feels this way, the Stomper shared: "Full-time national servicemen (NSFs) are also not allowed to work in food delivery. The same rules should apply to Singaporeans working full-time jobs. If they are caught working as riders during their off-days, they should be banned."

According to the Stomper, food delivery opportunities should be "for people without full-time or part-time jobs" so that they can have fairer access to such work.

He added: "My reason is that just like how NSFs are not allowed to take on outside work during national service, full-timers should also not be allowed to do platform work. These jobs should only be for those who need them."

Do you agree with the Stomper's view, or do you think full-time workers should be free to take on delivery jobs during their free time?
