Someone is setting fire to posters in lift at Block 550A Segar Road: 'Profoundly reckless'
It happened at least twice.
Someone has been setting fire to the posters in the lift at Block 550A Segar Road in Bukit Panjang.
Stomper Anonymous shared photos of the aftermath taken on Nov 29 and 30.
One damaged poster was advertising a one-day Chinese New Year shopping trip to Johor for Zhenghua residents co-organised by the People's Association. The other was publicising a $100 spectacles assistance for residents of Bukit Panjang town.
He said: "The act left visible burn marks and soot on the lift walls and floor. Remnants of the posters were left inside. This was the second day of burning.
"I reported it to OneService and the grassroots chairman immediately when I saw this. The chairman helped to inform our MP and police."

The Stomper added: "This is an extremely alarming matter for several critical reasons."
"Setting a fire in a confined, enclosed, and highly flammable space like a lift is profoundly reckless. It poses a direct and immediate threat to the lives and safety of all residents.
"A small fire can rapidly escalate, producing toxic smoke, triggering the fire alarm system unnecessarily, or causing the lift to malfunction, potentially trapping occupants.
"This act goes beyond mere vandalism; it constitutes a clear act of arson. Deliberately starting a fire in a residential building is a criminal offence that endangers public safety.
"Such violent and destructive behaviour creates an environment of fear and insecurity. It demonstrates a blatant disregard for public property and the well-being of fellow residents."
He said: "We, the residents, rely on the town council and the authorities to ensure our common property is safe, secure, and well-maintained. This incident shows a severe breach of that security."
The Stomper also explained why he wants to be anonymous: "I am concerned about potential retaliation and friction within the community."
What the town council says
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council said the town council takes such acts of vandalism seriously as they pose safety risks and compromise the condition of our common property.
"The town council is assisting the police with their investigations into the matter," added the spokesperson.
"We will also be stepping up monitoring within the block and surrounding vicinity, and we encourage residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities.
"By working together as a community, we can help maintain a safe and pleasant living environment for all."
