Sisters searching for long-lost godfather who brought them to KFC in the 1980s
A woman is appealing for help on behalf of her sisters to find their long-lost godfather, Mr Peter Ng Beng Tek, who played an unforgettable role in their childhood more than 40 years ago.
Stomper Ping Ping shared that she and her family lived in the former Chong Pang kampung from 1983 to 1985.
"He was working as a property agent back then and was commonly known as 'Ah Ng'," said Ping Ping.
"He should be in his 70s now."
Ping Ping said her family lost touch with Mr Ng after moving to Yishun in 1987.
"When we first arrived in Singapore from Jakarta, he was so kind to us," she recalled.
"He brought our family around Ang Mo Kio for hours of fun at the carnival and treated us to KFC several times.
"At that time, KFC was considered 'fine dining' as food was served on ceramic plates."
The family does not have a photo of Mr Ng, but Ping Ping, who is 49 years old now, shared a childhood photo of her and her sisters.
"We hope anyone who knows our godfather will show him our photo and hopefully he still remembers us," she said.
"I'm the younger girl in the photo. He knew me as 'Ping Ping'."
The family did not actively search for Mr Ng because about 20 years ago, they heard from an old neighbour that he had died in Malaysia.
However, a recent sighting and conversation have reignited hope.
"About a month ago, my mother and I saw someone who looked just like him at a kopitiam near Sembawang MRT station but we lost sight of him before we could confirm," Ping Ping said.
"Then, we met an old neighbour who gave us his full name and said she believes he is still in Singapore."
The Stomper is now hoping that through the power of Stomp, someone might recognise Mr Ng and help reconnect them.
"We hope to meet him and return the kindness he bestowed upon us," she said.
"Thank you all."
