A motorcyclist was caught on video tossing a takeaway box onto a grass patch in Jalan Besar.

Stomper Gloria shared footage of the incident with Stomp and said this happened on April 19 at about 8.25pm.

In the footage, a motorcyclist, who the Stomper believes to be a food delivery rider, is seen tossing what looks like a Jollibee box onto the grass before riding off.

"Singapore has lost the battle against litterbugs," said Gloria.

She added that the problem isn't just limited to one area.

"Littering is a persistent and worsening problem all over Singapore, not just here. I feel the authorities are really losing the battle against it."

Gloria also questioned the effectiveness of public education efforts on civic responsibility.

"Education doesn't seem to be working, if there is any at all, especially since students don't have civics education anymore."

Under the Environmental Public Health Act, any individual committing a littering offence is liable to a court fine of up to $2,000 for a first conviction, $4,000 for a second conviction, and $10,000 for subsequent convictions.

The court may also impose a Corrective Work Order (CWO), requiring repeat offenders to clean public areas for up to 12 hours.
