A man was allegedly spotted dangling a sharp pair of scissors on a string from the third floor of a Housing Board block at Ghim Moh Road, presumably to entice cats to play with the sharp instrument.

Stomper Sarah alerted Stomp to a Facebook post in the Singapore Missing Cats group, which referred to the man as a "sicko".

According to the Facebook user who shared the post, the makeshift "toy" was believed to have caused one of the community cats to injure its mouth and paws on May 26 at about 10pm.

He wrote: "We didn't see any visible wounds, but the poor baby was walking around and drooling."

The cat's regular feeder witnessed this and informed the Facebook user about it.

When confronted by the cats' regular feeder, the man allegedly told the feeder to "keep the cats away" from his estate.

The Facebook user told Stomp that it was the first time the feeder spotted the man dangling the scissors.

He said: "I've been accompanying the cats' feeder to patrol the area during my free time, and so far we've not seen the man doing it again."

Some netizens pointed out that the act is not just dangerous for cats.

One commented: "He did things that may also hurt humans. It's a dangerous act that police cannot ignore."

The Facebook user indicated in a reply to a comment that he planned to report the incident to the relevant authorities once he has collected sufficient evidence.

Meanwhile, he urged Ghim Moh residents to keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour and help protect the community cats.

He told Stomp: "We're trying to keep a look out for all of them."
