Shaburi & Kintan Buffet at Jem shopping mall will close for good on Aug 30 after nine years in business.

The Japanese restaurant, known for its all-you-can-eat shabu shabu and yakiniku BBQ, announced the news in a Facebook post on Aug 8.

The announcement has left loyal customers such as Stomper Ethan disappointed.

Ethan told Stomp: "My friend and I have been patronising the restaurant since 2019.

"Business is always brisk; they even survived and innovated during the Covid-19 pandemic. Never have they ever once failed in getting customers."

Ethan said he is a fan of the restaurant's ambience, diverse menu and rewards programme.

"They have a variety of hotpot meats and savoury soups," he shared.

"In 2023, they even implemented a chocolate fountain and waffles for their dessert section.

"And yet, the price point has been reasonable, with the most expensive menu being just under $50ish.

"You would just go there if you were craving beef and soup."

When contacted by Stomp, Shaburi & Kintan Buffet cited high rental and low traffic as reasons for the closure.
