SFA advises Workspace Espresso Bar Novena after Stomper finds raw chicken in salad
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has advised Workspace Espresso Bar at Novena to ensure its food is properly cooked before serving it to their customers after a woman's son found raw chicken in salad bought from the outlet.
Stomper Val had bought salad bowls from Workspace on Sep 28 for dinner to-go.
She told Stomp that her son had a couple of bites of the chicken before realising the texture was off.
"The sauce was orange so we couldn't really tell at first," said Val.
"However, after scraping the sauce off the chicken, we saw it was pink-ish inside."
Val said she immediately reported the matter to the food outlet and was offered a refund.
"It's not about the refund, serving raw chicken is wrong," she said.
"We were unsure if others may have been affected by the same batch of chicken.
"We've eaten from there several times before with no problems.
"This is the first time we've encountered this."
In response to a Stomp query, an SFA spokesman issued the following statement:
"We have followed up with the feedback provider on the case and have advised the operator of the food outlet to ensure that food is properly cooked before being served to their customers.
"Food operators are reminded to adhere to good food hygiene and preparation practices.
"SFA conducts regular inspections of food retail establishments to ensure compliance with hygiene standards, and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if necessary.
"Members of the public who come across any errant food operator should report to SFA via our online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback)."
