Is he entitled?

A self-described "senior citizen" was caught on camera arguing with commuters over a priority seat.

In a six-minute video posted by Sgfollowsall, the man can be heard shouting: "I'm entitled. Are you entitled? You're not entitled."

The person who purportedly took the video said: "On March 21 at about 11pm, I witnessed a commotion when I boarded the MRT at Outram Park, towards Joo Koon direction.

"It was an uncle and a group of young people engaged in an ongoing argument seemingly over the priority seat. As they were already arguing when I saw them, I'm not fully sure what triggered the argument."

Another purported witness commented: "REAL FACTS: THE UNCLE ALREADY HAD A SEAT. I WAS THERE.

"He just wanted to change his seat to the priority seat for unknown reasons."

Another commenter shared a more complete account of the incident.

He wrote: "What actually happened was that my gf was sitting in the priority seat and i was in the seat next to her. The uncle shouting in the video already had a seat opposite us but wanted to sit on the priority seat.

"My gf would have gladly stood up and let the uncle have the seat if he had asked but instead of asking, he started taking pictures of my gf. When my gf asked if he was taking pictures of her, the uncle started screaming and shouting that yes he's taking pictures of her bc she did not gave up her seat to him even though he's a senior citizen.

"Why on earth would anyone give their seat on the train to someone that ALREADY has a seat. How were we supposed know the uncle wanted that seat? Not like he asked or anything.

"And at that time before the commotion, the train was relatively empty with seats throughout the train. When my gf explained that she would have given up her seat if he had asked, the uncle got even more agitated, screaming that he shouldn't have to ask and he should have been automatically given the seat because he's a senior citizen.

"At one point, he tried to hit my gf, and that's when the young people in the video stopped him. It's also why the young man told him that he would call the police if he continued being physical and shouting."

In the video, the man and the people he was arguing with can be heard threatening to call the police.

"Youngsters are so rude!" said the man.

"Call the police! I'm a senior citizen. If you don't know, keep your mouth shut."

A woman said: "Please stop shouting."

The shouting man retorted: "I'm not shouting. You don't even know what is adult. You don't know what senior citizens are."

Another woman tried to calm the man down, but he continued ranting: "I'm angry because you don't even know to respect the senior citizen."

Waving a card, he said: "If you don't respect senior citizen, you don't even deserve to be a citizen."

Even after the group he was arguing with moved away from him, he suddenly came up to them with his phone to take photos of them.

A member of the group said: "No taking photos."

The man eventually returned to his seat and said to the woman trying to calm him down: "I'm not aggressive."
