A fire engine on a familiarisation trip in a Tengah Housing Board estate had its front wheels stuck in the ground of an accessway meant for such vehicles on April 9.
Photos circulated on social media show a grass patch covered in tyre marks, with mud covering the wooden path beside it.
In a media reply, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said the fire engine had just completed its routine hydrant testing in Swiss Club Road in the Bukit Timah area at around 5.45pm and headed to Plantation Grove in Tengah on a scheduled trip for firefighters to familiarise themselves with the area.
The vehicle entered and drove around 300m on a fire engine accessway near Block 120A Tengah Drive, before its front wheels "sunk into the ground" in front of Block 121C Tengah Drive.
SCDF said its officers worked with a vehicle contractor to recover the fire engine, before the crew drove it back to the station.
No one was injured during the incident.
In a media reply, a Chua Chu Kang Town Council spokesperson said it has contacted HDB about reinstating the turf, and HDB's contractors are to complete the reinstatement on April 12.
The Straits Times has contacted HDB for more information.
