SBS Transit explains viral video of paint splashed on bus floor and walls
SBS Transit has explained how white paint was spilled across the interior of a service 55 bus in a video that has since gone viral.
Stomper Anonymous alerted Stomp to a TikTok post of the incident, which occurred on June 2.
In the clip posted by TikTok user @ran3231, white paint was splashed across the floor, staircase, and walls of the bus, which was travelling along Hougang Avenue 2.
The video has since garnered over 165,000 views.
One netizen commented: "All it takes is one unpleasant incident to happen, and a new rule will kick in. This is how Singapore works. So the next rule on the bus will be: No paint on the bus. Fine: $500."
Another joked: "OMG, bus driver owed me money, came to his bus to splash paint 🤣."
In response to a Stomp query, SBS Transit spokesperson Mrs Grace Wu explained that a passenger was coming down from the upper deck with some bags, when one of them unfortunately slipped from his grip.
"The bag contained a can of paint which spilled onto the lower steps," Mrs Wu said.
"The passenger tried to clean up the spilled paint as best he could with a piece of cloth.
"The trip had to be disrupted so that the bus could be sent for thorough cleaning, but not before passengers onboard were transferred to another bus to continue on their journey."
