Commuters were riding on an MRT train on the North East Line when water started leaking from the air-conditioning system on July 4.

A Stomper alerted Stomp to the incident and said that it was 'raining in the MRT' when she boarded the train at Outram Park MRT Station at about 9.50pm.

The water was still leaking when she alighted at Hougang MRT Station.

In response to a Stomp query, SBS Transit spokesperson Mrs Grace Wu said: "There was water leakage on board one of our trains on 4 July 2023 due to a component failure in the air-conditioning system.

"The train was withdrawn from service and we have since rectified the fault.

"We apologise to affected passengers for the inconvenience caused."
