A rubbish truck caught fire near a Woodlands block on Friday (June 9).

The burning vehicle was so close to the block's refuse chamber that Stomper Johan thought the rubbish chute caught fire.

Sharing photos of a fire engine and a blue rubbish truck, the Stomper said: "Police came and SCDF (Singapore Civil Defence Force) extinguished the fire without any issue."

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it was alerted to a fire at the common driveway of Block 630 Woodlands Ring Road at about 11:25am.

The fire involved the contents in the rear compartment of a rubbish truck and was extinguished using two water jets and a hosereel.

There were no reported injuries, said SCDF.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
