From danger zone to snack zone.
Roti john, takoyaki and prawn vadai are now being sold where a wall collapsed at Yew Tee MRT station on Christmas day last year.
A 60-year-old man was walking by and fell avoiding the collapsing wall. He was taken to Ng Teng Fong Hospital and discharged the same day.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it had received a call for assistance at 21 Choa Chu Kang North 6 on Dec 25 at about 12.10pm.
The wall was outside an eatery called The Food Inn, which was closed for renovations that started the day before.
After the collapse, police officers and MRT station staff cordoned off the area, reported Lianhe Zaobao.
SMRT Trains senior vice-president of rail maintenance Ang Hang Guan said "Renovations in the shop premises have been suspended and the area around the shop has also been cordoned off as a safety precaution."
Train service was not affected.
That was more than four months ago.
The Food Inn reopened Monday (May 1) with a stall selling peanut pancakes, curry puff, goreng pisang and other snacks where the wall used to be.
When Stomp visited the stall on Wednesday morning (May 3), people were seen checking out the food.
One customer told Stomp: "It's good they finally reopened. It was depressing seeing the place closed up for renovations for so long."
