A Singaporean senior who received $800 worth of printed SG60 vouchers discovered that half of them had already been used without his knowledge.

Mr Lee, 64, a retiree, told Shin Min Daily News that he and his wife collected the vouchers at Kreta Ayer Community Club on July 2, a day after they were made available to seniors aged 60 and above.

"A member of the staff at the community club printed out a physical version of the vouchers (which come in denominations of $10, $5 and $2) for me," said Mr Lee, who used a $10 voucher on July 4 at a supermarket.

The following day, his wife tried to make a purchase amounting to $32 at Bee Cheng Hiang with three $10 vouchers and a $2 voucher, but was told that one of the $10 vouchers had already been used.

Mr Lee realised something was amiss when he went to a Sheng Siong Supermarket on July 6 - he attempted to make a purchase with two $10 vouchers, but was told that one of the vouchers was no longer valid.

"I went back to the Kreta Ayer Community Club to speak to the staff. The person asked if it was a family member who had used the vouchers," said Mr Lee. He then called his two sons on the spot to check if they had used the vouchers, and when they said no, the staff at the community club advised him to seek help from the police.

Vouchers used by unknown person

He made a police report the following day (July 7).

Upon logging on to his Singpass account with the help of police officers, Mr Lee discovered that his vouchers had been used by an unknown person on July 3 - the day after he collected them.

Records also revealed that $459 of the vouchers had been used, of which only $42 were used by Mr Lee and his wife.

The vouchers were always in the possession of the couple, he said.

"We are not sure how anyone managed to obtain and use these vouchers," Mr Lee added.

Singaporeans aged 60 and above are eligible for $800 worth of SG60 vouchers, which are already available through the RedeemSG website. All Singaporean adults aged 21-59 can claim $600 worth of SG60 vouchers from July 22

.The police have warned the public to be wary of phishing scams while claiming these vouchers.
