Resident given deadline to clear clutter from common spaces of Senja Road HDB block
Clutter is prevalent in the common spaces of Block 604 Senja Road, much to the frustration of Stomper Anonymous.
Anonymous said there are bulky items along the corridors, staircase landings and lift lobbies on multiple floors of the block, but noted that the 19th floor "is the worst".
According to Anonymous, the resident responsible for the clutter has also placed his personal belongings in the riser.
She told Stomp: "I submitted feedback to the OneService app on April 30, 2023. The town council placed notices at the rubbish chute area, but did not follow up.
"Now, there are additional items in the common areas. I have also seen bicycles tied to the staircase on the 21st and 22nd floors, as well as flowerpots near the stairways on the 23rd and 25th storeys."
Anonymous, who shared photos and a video detailing the obstruction, also expressed fire safety concerns.
She added: "Are these iron rods allowed to be installed outside the house? It really looks like a prison."
A spokeswoman for Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council told Stomp on June 26 that it is aware of the clutter at common areas of the block.
She said: "In response, our property team has established contact with the unit and have requested the items to be cleared by July 5.
"To enhance our community's safety and cleanliness, the town council will increase inspection efforts and work collaboratively with residents to ensure that common areas remain free of obstructions.
"By working together and adhering to these guidelines, we can create a more pleasant living environment for everyone in our community.
"Additionally, we appeal to all residents to refrain from obstructing common areas such as corridors, staircase landings, and riser compartments."
The town council will continue to monitor the situation closely to maintain a safe and conducive environment for all, added the spokeswoman.
Anonymous told Stomp on June 26 and June 29 that the resident has cleared some of the items.
She said: "However, the iron bars are still in place."
