Punggol multi-storey carparks flooded after 'heavy and intense' rainfall in northen part of S'pore
At least two Punggol multi-storey carparks were flooded in what national water agency PUB described as 'heavy and intense' rainfall on April 13 afternoon.
Stomper Roland shared a video of the floodwater in the Block 175 Edgefield Plains carpark.
Videos of another flooded Punggol carpark were also posted on the Punggol Northshore District Facebook page. This carpark was located at 409B Northshore Drive.
PUB had issued flood risk warnings for 13 locations, including in Punggol, Yishun, Toa Payoh and Bukit Timah, where the heavy rain resulted in high water levels in drains and canals.
The agency said in a Facebook post that flash floods occurred at three locations:
- Yishun Avenue 7 (near intersection of Yishun Street 22)
- Punggol Way (slip road to Tampines Expressway)
- Kallang Expressway (slip road to Buangkok East Drive)
PUB added that the heaviest rainfall of around 114mm was recorded in the northern part of Singapore from 12.55pm to 2.45pm.
This amount corresponds to 47 per cent of Singapore's average monthly rainfall in April, and lies within the top 2 per cent of maximum daily rainfall records since 1978.
