A private-hire driver was caught on video using her mobile phone while driving.

The footage, posted on SG Road Vigilante's Facebook page, shows the woman using both her hands to type on her phone while driving her car.

According to the contributor, the woman is a driver with ride-hailing platform Ryde and that the incident happened during the ride from VivoCity to Tanjong Pagar on Tuesday (July 13) at about 6.15pm.

Under the Road Traffic Act, a driver of a vehicle who holds in his hand a mobile communication device and operates any of its communicative or other functions while the vehicle is in motion on a road or in a public place is guilty of an offence.

Offenders may face a fine of up to $1,000 and/or a jail term of up to six months.
