The Singapore Red Cross is giving away a Pop Mart blind box to each successful blood donor.

When Stomper Steven found out about the giveaway, he was appalled.

"I detest such a promotion," he said.

"Donating blood is voluntary and should not be compromised with something in return.

"I hope this promotion will be withdrawn as it may be an insult to willing blood donors."

Originally scheduled to end on Oct 17, the giveaway has since been extended to Nov 7.

In response to a Stomp query regarding the Pop Mart blind boxes, a spokesperson for Red Cross said: "These are small tokens intended to show our appreciation and initiate conversations about blood donation.

"Through these collaborations, we aim to reach, engage, and attract new donors and raise awareness among those who may not have previously considered donating blood to begin their journey as blood donors.

"We remain committed to promoting voluntary blood donation whilst exploring ways to recruit, retain, and recognise new and repeat donors to ensure a secure and sustainable blood supply for Singapore.

"Our policy of non-remunerated donations and voluntary blood donation remains unchanged."
