Policeman in China impresses netizens after using Singlish to chide errant motorist

Published

A video of a Chinese traffic policeman speaking to an offender in English, or rather, Singlish, has gone viral.

In the video shared extensively on Weibo, the officer from the province of Xi'an, China was seen charging a foreign motorcyclist for driving without licence, citing:

"You driving a car in your country, you need a driving license anot?"

According to the Chinese media, said officer had worked in Singapore before, which explains his uniquely Singaporean accent.

The video has since been played over 4,930,000 times.

One netizen added:

"This could well be a promotional video for 'Eastern English'."

Goes to show that leaving Singapore doesn't necessary make you any less Singaporean!
