Police seize 4,700 counterfeit items worth over $141,000 in raid, 46-year-old man arrested
A 46-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in the sale of counterfeit goods online.
The man was arrested during raids conducted by Criminal Investigation Department officers at Bukit Merah and Delta Avenue.
During the operation, more than 4,700 purported trademark-infringing items were seized.
The items comprised bags, accessories, pouches, cosmetics, household items, and stationery with an estimated street value of more than $141,000 which were seized.
Police investigations are ongoing.
The possession of goods with falsely applied trademarks for the purpose of trade is an offence under the Trade Marks Act 1998, carrying a fine of up to $100,000, an imprisonment term of up to five years, or both.
The police said they take a serious view of intellectual property rights infringement and remind the public that the distribution and sale of counterfeit goods are serious offences.
They will not hesitate to take "tough action against perpetrators who profit at the expense of legitimate businesses and consumers".
