Police investigating death of SAF regular found hanging from rope at bunk in Nee Soon Camp

The police are investigating the death of a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman who was found hanging from a rope in his bunk at Nee Soon Camp on Saturday (July 28).

The soldier who served in the SAF Medical Training Institute and had been off-duty when he was discovered, reports The Straits Times.

In a Facebook post by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and shared by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) on Saturday, it said that the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were activated by the unit upon the discovery.

SCDF paramedics pronounced the soldier dead on site at 3.06pm.

MINDEF and SAF extended their condolences to the family members of the soldier.

The statement added that the police were investigating the accident and the SAF would lend their assistance to the soldier's family in this time of grief.

Many netizens have also posted comments on MINDEF's post, expressing sorrow at the soldier's passing.
