Pokemon card scalper lashes out at fans for calling him out: 'Angry me for what? Supply and demand'
Drama has stirred among Pokemon fans across Singapore.
For the recent release of a Pokemon Center Original TCG Prismatic Evolutions Booster in January, fans hoped to be able to purchase one of the collectibles, but they were thwarted by a formidable foe - scalpers.
Scalpers are people who buy limited edition items to resell and are widely despised for depriving others of limited edition offerings and charging much higher than original prices.
Stomper Anonymous said: "The recent release of Pokemon cards were mainly bought by a scalper named Trieu Hai. He has openly boasted online that he got more than 500 in stock."
The cards were priced at $41.40 at the Pokemon Center, but the scalper was reselling them at $105, according to the Stomper.
The scalper has been seen listing the cards on Carousell and Facebook at more than double the retail price.

But he denied that he had more than 500 in stock and posted that his comment was misconstrued.

Pokemon fans took to Instagram to vent their frustrations in the comments of a post announcing the removal of the outer plastic wrapping on all Pokemon trading card game products in a move to prevent resale.

"The community has been very upset. A recent post on Pokemon Centre Singapore's Instagram has people calling out this account. Trieu Hai openly scolded back on Facebook with vulgarities," said the Stomper.
In bringing this issue to light, fans hope to raise more awareness about scalping, a prevalent issue beyond the Pokemon community.
