When it rains, it pours plastic.

In the space of five days, three Stompers allegedly found a piece of plastic of varying shapes and sizes in their food in separate incidences.

On Aug 5, Stomper Angeline bought curry rice from Yi Jia Yuen Curry Rice at Chong Pang Hawker Centre for lunch.

"Upon taking my first spoonful of eggplant and rice, I bit into something very hard and sharp," she recounted.

"I immediately spat it out to find what looks like a piece of broken plastic with a really sharp end."

Angeline was disgusted.

"Who knows where this came from? It had a thin layer of grease even after I washed it with some soap to see what exactly it was. I could have cut myself if I had bitten into it at a wrong angle," said the Stomper.

"I have since found myself pushing my food around to see if there's any foreign object before consuming it."

At least she did not swallow the plastic.

On Aug 3, Stomper Tingsley went to a bakery at Block 848 Yishun Street 81 and paid $5.50 for a whole walnut cake.

"I found a number of plastic threads inside the cake," recounted Stomper. "One plastic thread got stuck in the throat and coughing couldn't get it out."

Tingsley survived to share a photo of the cake with the "plastic threads".

From a neighbourhood bakery to a mall foodcourt, Stomper Vina ordered food from the Vietnamese food stall at the Kopitiam foodcourt in VivoCity on Aug 1.

"I found a plastic piece inside the fried spring roll," she said, sharing a photo of a small, squarish piece of transparent plastic on a spoon.

"Food standard in Singapore been decreasing over the year due to negligence of the people preparing the food. Something should be done to improve these flaws. Food safety is very crucial," said the Stomper.
