A private-hire vehicle (PHV) driver heroically performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a fellow PHV driver lying on the road for five minutes until the arrival of the police.

Several Stompers alerted Stomp to a 5½-minute video of the incident circulating online.

The two men similarly dressed in white long-sleeve shirts, black waistcoats and pants were next to one of a few black Toyota Alphards parked in a row on the side of the road.

After about five minutes of chest compressions, a police car arrived and a policeman took over the CPR. Another police car arrived thereafter.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance at Sheares Avenue on Sept 6 at 7.10am.

The 55-year-old man was unconscious when taken to Singapore General Hospital where he subsequently died.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police said they do not suspect foul play.

Police investigations are ongoing.
