Pedestrian scolds cabby who honked at him, holds up traffic at East Coast Road petrol station
A honk at a petrol station along East Coast Road escalated into a confrontation between a pedestrian and a taxi driver.
Stomper Gary had been walking his pugs in the area when he witnessed the heated exchange at Caltex on Feb 14 at 12.43pm.
"The pedestrian was crossing the road with his ear buds on," recounted the Stomper. "Then the cab driver honked at him and he was not happy, so he went to quarrel."
In a video that Gary shared with Stomp, a man wearing sunglasses and an earpiece can be seen gesturing animatedly at a ComfortDelGro taxi.
The pedestrian points at the driver's seat of the taxi multiple times and appears to be shouting, though it is unclear what he is saying.
A dark-coloured car can be seen stopping behind the taxi because of the altercation.
The Stomper, who was unable to make out what both parties were saying as he did not want to approach them, recounted: "(The pedestrian) just didn't feel happy being honked at and the cab driver was also antagonistic. He stopped and stared at (the pedestrian)."
Gary believes that the taxi driver was not happy with the pedestrian, who allegedly did not look out for traffic while crossing the road, as it could have gotten the driver into trouble if an accident were to occur.
"That said, the cab driver really didn't need to go into a staring match, and the guy didn't need to go back and try to fight or quarrel," Gary said, adding that the incident was uncalled for.
Stomp has contacted ComfortDelGro for comment.
