Parts of ceiling fall in CTE tunnel, man arrested for driving tipper truck over 4.5m tall without escort
Parts of the ceiling fell in a section of the Central Expressway (CTE) tunnel in the early hours of Aug 25.
Stomper Happy alerted Stomp to online videos of the incident's aftermath that showed a traffic jam at the tunnel entrance due to lane closure and vehicles going around the debris strewn on the road in the tunnel.
One Facebook user commented: "Tipper truck in front forget to lower bin. As a result, the tilted bin smashed through the light fixtures and cables. I was there at about 2am. Investigation ended about 4am and tipper truck was towed."
At 1.08am, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) tweeted about an accident in the CTE tunnel towards Seletar Expressway before the Cairnhill Circle Entrance and that lanes one and two should be avoided.
There was no structural damage to the ceiling, LTA told The Straits Times.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted at about 1am to an accident involving a tipper truck on CTE.
A 39-year-old male driver was arrested for driving a heavy motor vehicle with exceeded overall height of 4.5m without being escorted by a police officer or an auxiliary police officer.
No injuries were reported and police investigations are ongoing.
