Nurse using her CDC vouchers to buy groceries for old folks' home residents to celebrate SG60
Nurse Emily Yap will be using her CDC vouchers and savings to buy groceries for the elderly this National Day.
Her mother, Stomper Audrey, said that she will be leading a "SG60 ground-up tribute of care and connection to Pioneer Generation".
Miss Yap, who works at Alexandra Hospital, started volunteering by delivering groceries to vulnerable families in the Covid-19 pandemic with a small team of volunteers.
Since then, she has received a Healthcare Humanity Award recipient and founded Dunearn Youth, a community of like-minded individuals wanting to give back to society.
Her mother said: "Recognised by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong as embodying the Singapore spirit, Emily reminds us that true celebration lies in giving back."
On National Day, her team will host an upcycled art workshop at St Theresa's Home and also deliver handmade cards and carrot cake.

Apart from buying groceries with her savings and CDC vouchers, she is also hosting a groceries donation drive to support the home's 170 elderly residents.
Ms Yap, who delivered Chinese New Year treats to the elderly in January, said: "Let us come together this National Day to honour the past, celebrate the present, and build a future rooted in kindness.
"Kindness changes lives. A smile, a hug, a kind word. You never truly know what someone is going through. It could be the lifeline they didn't know they needed.
"Don't wait for the world to change-be the one who changes it with compassion.
"Because sometimes, the simplest act of kindness can be someone's turning point."
