A full-time national serviceman (NSF) has died after he was found unconscious and unresponsive next to a bed in Pasir Laba Camp on the evening of Sept 27.

Pasir Laba Camp is in Jurong near the Singapore Discovery Centre.

A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) ambulance took the NSF to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Despite resuscitation efforts en route, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The death is not training-related, said the Ministry of Defence and the police in a joint statement on Facebook at midnight.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play and have classified the case as an unnatural death.

The statement said: "The Ministry of Defence and the SAF extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman, and are assisting the family in their time of grief."

Police investigations are ongoing.
