A stalled train caused a service delay between Woodlands North and Lentor on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) in the early evening of Oct 1.

At 4.56pm, SMRT posted on social media for commuters to add an additional travelling time of 10 minutes between the two stations. Free regular bus service was available, added SMRT at 5.11pm.

At 5.52pm, SMRT updated that train service had fully resumed and the free regular bus services had ceased.

At 6.20pm, SMRT elaborated on what happened: "On Oct 1 at about 4.45pm, a train meant for evening peak services stalled after being launched from Mandai Depot, due to a signalling issue.

"As this occurred during the evening peak hours, there was a delay in the regular passenger service, while we rectified the fault.

"Train services remained available from Lentor to Bayshore stations."

A Redditor posted at 5.15pm: "Currently at Springleaf MRT station, train incident has caused trains on the TEL line to stop.

"SMRT staff say 10 mins, but ive been waiting here for 20, so add extra time if y'all are considering taking TEL, or find an alternative route."

This comes after trains resumed running for passenger service between Jurong East and Buona Vista MRT stations on the East-West Line on Oct 1 morning after a six-day disruption due to extensive track damage.
