Facebook user Norman Goh, who was purportedly on the stalled train, posted: "The train abruptly stopped and is strangely tilted at the side now. I don't mind walking on the railway tracks. But my father is wheelchair-bound. How can I push?"

Regarding the tilt, SMRT explained in an update: "The tilt experienced is due to the slope of the track at the curvature towards Tiong Bahru station. It is normal and the train is stable."

This is the fifth train service disruption in four weeks.

A stalled train caused a service delay between Woodlands North and Lentor on the Thomson-East Coast Line in the early evening of Oct 1.

This followed a six-day disruption between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations on the East-West Line from Sept 25 to 30 caused by another first-generation Kawasaki Heavy Industries train.

A week earlier, the Circle Line had a service disruption on two consecutive days. On Sept 17, a power fault caused the disruption. The next day, a power system cubicle at Kim Chuan Depot caught fire.
