No water for hours at Marine Drive block after pipe leak, residents given water bags and pails
Some residents at a Marine Parade block had their water supply disrupted for several hours after hacking works caused a leak in an underground pipe on May 5.
Stomper Jason told Stomp he discovered the issue at around 4pm. His unit and three neighbouring units between the second and fifth floors at Block 74 Marine Drive were affected.
Photos he shared show construction works being carried out at the foot of the block, while a video shows water no longer flowing from a kitchen tap.
The video also shows water bags placed in his sink.
The Stomper said water supply to his unit was restored at about 6.30pm.
“Nothing we can do,” he said. “These construction workers need to bear full responsibility for this.”
Leak occurred during hacking works
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for the Marine Parade-Braddell Heights Town Council said it was aware of the water supply disruption.
The spokesperson said the town council was carrying out rescreeding works at the apron flooring area as part of its ongoing Repairs and Redecoration (R&R) programme.
“During hacking works at approximately 1.35pm, a leak occurred in an underground connecting pipe,” the spokesperson said.
“Upon discovery of the leak, national water agency PUB was immediately notified to carry out repair works.”
According to the town council, water supply to four residential units was temporarily disrupted from about 1.45pm and fully restored by about 6.30pm.
“During this period, the town council’s appointed contractor and PUB visited the affected units and provided water bags and pails of water to residents,” the spokesperson added.
Residents may contact the town council for estate-related feedback at 6241 6044 or 6282 0551, or via its social media channels (@marineparadetc).
