No touching without consent, no sexual services allowed at 'first of its kind' cosplay event in S'pore
A cosplay event was recently held on Sentosa with a few eyebrow-raising rules such as no touching without consent and no sexual services.
Stomper A alerted Stomp to the Costica Summer Fest held at a club called Tipsy Unicorn on Siloso Beach on Aug 30 from 1pm to 11pm.
Promoted as the first of its kind in Singapore, the event featured cosplayers from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand, including Nagai Maria.
The Stomper commented: "Wah, now Singapore allows this kind of event?"
The organiser, Costica Events and Entertainment, said the event would have stage and DJ performances, photography areas and independent cosplay exhibitors. Ticket prices ranged from $38 to $88 per person.
Restricted to those aged 18 and above, the Costica Summer Fest updated a few rules on Aug 25 following police advice.
"And just to set the record straight," added the organiser, "our event follows all necessary guidelines and protocols. We're committed to making sure everything is done right."
The rules included:
- Socially acceptable swimwear or costumes with equivalent cover.
- No real or artifical weapons, sharp objects or metal props.
- No nipple tapes, pasties or plasters allowed on their own. "Please use them only as final barriers," said the organiser.
- No sexual-related services.
- No touching of others without consent, especially special guests, exhibitors and stage performers.
One of the special guests, Chanel Yui, shared a recap of the event on social media.
