'No smoking' and 'no littering' posters burnt in Tampines block, man arrested for mischief by fire
A 27-year-old man was arrested after posters were burnt in a Tampines Avenue 9 block, said the police.
The "no smoking" and "no littering" posters were put up near a lift landing by the Tampines Town Council. There were also burn marks on the walls at the staircase landing and rubbish chute.

The police were alerted on July 25 at about 8.20am. Two other police reports of similar cases at the same block were received on July 26 and 27.
Through ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on July 28.
A lighter purportedly used to set the fire was seized as case exhibit.

The man will be charged in court on July 29 with the offence of mischief by fire with intent to cause damage, which carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
