No more cockroaches? SFA lifts Hup Huat Noodles' suspension after 13 days as lapses have been rectified
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has lifted the suspension of the food business operations of Hup Huat Noodles at 10 Chin Bee Drive, said the agency on Dec 27.
This comes 13 days after the company was suspended on Dec 4 when during an inspection of its premises, non-compliances such as severe infestation of live cockroaches as well as dirty floor and food-processing equipment were found.
SFA instructed the Hup Huat Noodles to rectify the lapses and take necessary measures to improve the food safety practices and cleanliness of its premises.
The company posted on Facebook on Dec 8: "Hup Huat's management would like to assure our customers, partners and suppliers, that we take matters relating to food hygiene very seriously. We will spare no effort in working with the relevant government agencies to remedy the situation and comply with all rules and regulations.
"We at Hup Huat would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and seek your patience and understanding during this period."
As of Dec 27, the noodle manufacturer was allowed to resume operations as it has rectified the lapses that were identified leading to its suspension.
Following the lifting of suspension, SFA will continue to place Hup Huat Noodles under close surveillance to ensure they adhere to food safety requirements.
The company announced the lifting of the suspension on Facebook on Dec 27, adding: "Our production lines have resumed the operation.
"We at Hup Huat would like to assure our customers, partners and suppliers, that we take matters relating to food hygiene very seriously. We will spare no effort to uphold our food hygiene standard.
"We appreciated your patience and understanding during this period."
