The newly painted floor in a Hougang void deck was peeling due to moisture seeping in during downpour, the town council told Stomp.

Stomper Wendy had shared a video of the patches on the floor at Block 308 Hougang Avenue 5 on Aug 20.

She said the floor was newly painted, but it was already peeling.

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council said: "The self-levelling cementitious layer loosened due to moisture seeping into it during a heavy downpour which occurred just after the top coat was applied."

The town council added that the defect has since been rectified.

The Stomper said she saw workers applying a new coat on the affected area on Aug 22.
