A woman was alarmed to learn that her food order was tampered with by a GrabFood delivery rider outside her home at a condominium in Yio Chu Kang on Nov 22.

Stomper A said she placed a food order from Xin Mei Congee via Grab, and the rider arrived at her condominium at 12.15pm, calling the gate access.

However, he only delivered the food to her doorstep at 12.22pm.

"I initially found it strange that he was downstairs for so long without completing the delivery," she said.

It was only after she returned home later that she found a note left by her neighbour, informing her that he had caught the rider pouring porridge that had spilt back into the container.

"This means he had been tampering with my order for several minutes before handing it over," she said.

The Stomper said she had already consumed some of her food before discovering the note.

The neighbour identified the man as a 'Foodpanda driver' as he was spotted with a pink food bag but may have been making deliveries for more than one platform.

The neighbour also provided A with footage of the man caught in the act.

"I am absolutely disgusted, outraged, and deeply alarmed that a food delivery rider — someone meant to uphold basic professionalism and hygiene — was possibly meddling with my food right outside my doorstep," she said.

The Stomper added that she has lodged a report with Grab and is awaiting a response.

"I felt it was important to raise awareness as this poses a real public health concern," A said. "This goes far beyond poor service. It is a serious breach of safety, hygiene, and trust.

"A major platform like Grab should have stricter safeguards and oversight in place to prevent incidents like this.

"It is shocking that something so outrageous and unsafe can still happen in Singapore, especially involving something as basic as food safety.

"I believe this warrants public attention so others can stay vigilant."

In response to a Stomp query, Grab said it takes food safety seriously and does not condone such behaviour.

"We sincerely apologise for the experience the customer had with their order," a Grab spokesperson said.

"At Grab, we take food safety seriously and do not condone any behaviours that violate our code of conduct and food safety practices.

"We are currently in touch with the affected customer regarding this issue.

"A thorough review of this incident is currently underway.

"We have paused the delivery services of the partner involved while our internal investigation is ongoing.

"We want to assure all customers that this incident is not representative of the service standards we enforce.

"Furthermore, we continue to work closely with our merchant partners to seek their assistance to ensure food is securely packaged to prevent any spillage during transit.

"Should any customer or delivery partner encounter issues with a delivery, do reach out to Grab for assistance."
