Multiple households making full use of space at Hougang HDB block -- even the ledge
You have heard of residents cluttering the common corridor with their belongings.
But a few households at Block 15 Hougang Avenue 3 have gotten a bit more creative by utilising the space on their air-con ledge.
Stomper Callie shared photos taken on Jan 8, showing several units with laundry racks and poles on the ledge outside their windows.
She said: "As far as I know, at least two of the racks have been placed there for months. Some are on and off, but they would be there out in the open space at least once or twice a week.
"I am really concerned about the safety of this. Hopefully, the town council can do something about it or get residents to remove the items before any mishaps happen."
In response to a Stomp query, Aljunied-Hougang Town Council said it has been educating residents on the risks of placing or hanging items on or above ledges, beyond windows of their flats or parapets along common corridors.
This is done through the town council's posters, advisories and Telegram messages, a spokesperson said.
The spokesperson told Stomp: "Cases observed during our routine inspections or received through feedback are addressed by engaging residents and rendering assistance where it is needed. The town council will engage the residents concerned in the cases highlighted by the reader.
"We will continue with our efforts to urge residents not to place or hang items precariously as falling items could potentially cause grievous injury or death to passers-by below."
