A trip to the cinema is meant to be an immersive experience, but for one moviegoer, it felt more like watching a buffering YouTube video.

Stomper Adeline booked tickets to watch a 1.45pm screening of Ne Zha 2 at Golden Village (GV) VivoCity on March 13.

However, she was left frustrated after the film repeatedly lagged and was interrupted multiple times throughout the movie.

"It was like streaming a video on YouTube and waiting for it to load," she said.

"We should not be expecting or paying for this kind of quality from a Singapore cinema."

She added that she reported the incident to the manager but said 'no action was done or compensation offered'.

In response to a Stomp query, a GV spokesperson said: "After a thorough check, we found this to be a one-off issue, and after resetting the system, it has since been operating normally.

"We encourage patrons to approach our staff immediately should they encounter any technical issues during a screening.

"While such occurrences are rare, our team is always prepared to assist and ensure the best possible viewing experience."
