Why did the monitor lizard cross the stairs?

To get to the water on the other side, just like this Malayan water monitor did.

Stomper Rex was jogging at Punggol Park on the morning of June 26 when he spotted the reptile emerging from the grass and slowly making its way across a rocky staircase.

He sent Stomp a video of the lizard, and said: "Caution! A monitor lizard is crossing the path at Punggol Park. 😄🤣"

As the Stomper pans his camera to follow the lizard's movements, passers-by can be seen whipping out their phones to capture the reptile as it ambles along.

The sight reminded Rex about the importance of preserving green spaces in Singapore, not just for us humans, but for the animals "that still call them home".

Stomp recently reported on a monitor lizard that was seen injured at Changi Point Coastal Walk.
