A self-professed model says her images are being misused to create fake accounts that have scammed unsuspecting followers.

Stomper Lena told Stomp she was recently alerted that her photos and videos were being manipulated to create inappropriate content.

She said: "Some fake accounts have been creating inappropriate content by Photoshopping my images, which has led to certain followers being financially scammed.

"I want to remind everyone to stay vigilant against fake or impersonation accounts. These accounts may try to deceive or scam users by pretending to be someone they are not."

Sharing screenshots of one such Facebook account, Lena added: "This was sent to me by my follower and I reported it to Meta."

Fake account

The fake account has since been taken down.

According to her LinkedIn page, Lena claims to have a doctorate in business and law. The page further states that she previously worked as a public relations manager at Citi for over 10 years until 2011.

She also said she has been featured in publications such as Daily Star in UK.

"This scammer pretended to be me and used my picture or video in my social media to convince my followers that they are actually talking to me," said the Stomper.

"The scammer would ask my followers for Google Play gift cards and to send them via chat with the redemption code.

"One of my followers felt something was wrong and searched for me online. As I am verified with a blue tick, I was able to report to Meta and stop the scam."

She also shared a video about the incident on her social media on May 25, urging followers to only follow her official accounts.
