Five years ago, Mr Wang moved into a flat at Block 206 Marsiling Drive.

Everything was fine between him and his next-door neighbour, Mr Wen.

But things changed about two years ago, after the death of Mr Wen's wife.

Mr Wang told Shin Min Daily News that his neighbour had accused him of "casting a spell" and would wash the corridor daily - up to 10 times a day - with a smelly solution.

Mr Wang, 70, claimed that Mr Wen would also hit the Tibetan singing bowl for about five minutes each night.

"He would hit the bowl for up to five minutes every night," said Mr Wang.

"I called the police several times, but there was nothing else I could do. Complaining to the relevant authorities was also useless."

He went to the Community Mediation Centre, but Mr Wen did not turn up for their session.

Mr Wang went to the Community Mediation Centre, but his neighbour didn't show up.

Mr Wang said he had started looking for buyers for his flat. He had initially planned to pass his flat to his family after his death but changed his mind following the issues with the neighbour.

When asked about his actions, Mr Wen said he was merely "exorcising evil spirits" and had no intentions of causing inconvenience to anyone.

The 78-year-old man added that he was washing the corridor with water mixed with vinegar and star anise.

He felt that the area surrounding his flat was "unclean".
