Mangobossku strikes again: Vendor smashes man's iPhone in heated exchange at Geylang bazaar
Mangobossku owner Mohammad Hussin Said has gone viral again, this time for smashing a man's iPhone in a dramatic encounter caught on video.
In the TikTok clip posted by @sgmustwatchla, Mr Hussin is seen reacting aggressively as a man approaches him while recording on his phone at his stall.
"Eh, why you come so near, why you record?" he asks, before suddenly grabbing the phone and throwing it on the ground.
He then picks up the phone and hurls it again with force, shattering the device.
He points at it and tells the man, who is backing away: "This one your phone."
The video, which was posted on Mar 5, has since garnered over 1.4 million views.
While the TikTok caption speculated whether the heated exchange was due to the scorching weather at the Geylang Serai Ramadan bazaar, many netizens were quick to point out that Mangobossku is no stranger to controversy or marketing stunts.
Mangobossku shot to fame for bringing the kunafa craze to Singapore in 2023 after its popularity exploded in Malaysia. Since then, Mr Hussin has embraced an influencer persona, often portraying thuggish and confrontational characters to draw attention to his brand.
This isn't the first time Mangobossku has made headlines. Last year, local celebrity Roslan Shah was filmed shouting at Mr Hussin before stomping on a plastic board at his stall and storming off.
In an interview with Berita Harian, he acknowledged that his marketing tactics had become more aggressive.
"We can't just sit around and hope customers will come here," he said, explaining that 'explosive' marketing is necessary to stay competitive in the bustling bazaar scene.
